In the event of an accident, follow these steps to ensure you gather all necessary information:
- Obtain the Other Person's Name: Politely ask for and note down the name of the other individual involved in the accident.
- Capture a Clear Picture of Their License: Take a well-lit, clear photograph of the other driver's license. Make sure all details on the license are visible and legible.
- Photograph Their Insurance Card: Secure a clear photograph of the other person's insurance card, capturing all pertinent details.
- Record the Address and Time of the Incident: Note the exact location (address) and the time when the accident occurred. This information is crucial for any reports or insurance claims.
- Get the Other Person's Phone Number: Request and note down the other person’s phone number for any necessary follow-up communication.
- Document the Damage to Your Vehicle: Take pictures of the damage to your vehicle from various angles to comprehensively document the extent of the damage.
- Photograph the Damage to Their Vehicle: Also, take pictures of the damage to the other person’s vehicle, ensuring you capture the full scope of the damage.
- Do Not Let the Other Person Leave: Politely insist that the other person should not leave the scene until you have gathered all the above information. This is important to ensure you have everything required to proceed with any claims or reports.
- Chime or Text the Information to Dispatch: Once you have collected all the required information and photographs, promptly chime or text it to dispatch for further processing and action.
